What my masthead will look like

This is what my masthead will look like on my magazine front cover as i have chosen to have a white background making the text stand out because it contrasts with the red writing. I have used red writing because i am sticking to the vintage convention of having red font.

I handed out the grid below to 30 people aged 16-20 in order to collect target audience research.

Front Cover
Masthead will take up around 1/6th of the front page (usually in black, red or white)
Colours/font colours used are white, red, black
Cover stories  about a specific singer or band
Features may contain: album review, untold information, unseen pictures, birthday specials, articles, interviews.
Puffs / shapes saying about key feature/ interview.
Pugs contain the price and date, issue and barcode in the bottom right

Target audience research - Masthead font

I asked my target audience of 16 - 20 year old's this question:

Which style font do you think would suit my Vintage magazine’s masthead? 

I then gave them a list of options which i liked : 

Masthead – Courier New

Masthead - Algerian

Masthead – Arial Black

Masthead – Bernard MT condensed

Masthead - Elephant

Masthead – Wide Latin

Masthead - Castellar

Masthead – Copperplate gothic bold

Masthead - Gungsuh

Masthead – Showcard Gothic

Masthead – Mongolian Balti

Masthead – Goudy stout

My Target audience said they preferred 'Wide Latin' as i got 8 votes for this particular font out of the 20 people that i asked. 3 people voted for 'Algerian' and 'Mongolian Balti'. 2 people voted for 'Elephant' and 'Gungsuh' and 1 person voted for 'Castellar' and 'Goudy stout'.

Front Cover, contents page of DPS? Front Cover, Contents page and DPS.

Date and Time of Shoot?
14th November, 9am - 10am.

Does the picture need to be portrait or landscape?
Portrait for the Front Cover. A range will be taken for the DPS and the contents page because i'm not sure how it will be layed out yet.

Location & Background?
Drama studio - white background

Models?
Kayley Salter and Courtney Carlile

Costume? (What is your model(s) wearing? Includes footwear/jewellery) Including change.
Kayley will be wearing a black fur coat with black shiny leggings, she will be wearing a floral brown coloured shirt with black boots with have a buckle on them.
Courtney will be wearing black jeans with a pink stripy shirt and a white top underneath. She will also wear black shinny dolly shoes.

Make up and hair style?
Kayley-        Make up - natural with her eyebrows drawn on and bright red lipstick.
                     Hairstyle - Down, straight with her fringe tucked behind her ears with a middle parting.

Courney-      Make up - Red lipstick with liquid eyeliner on the top of her eyelids, eyebrows drawn on                      and natural foundation and blusher.
                     Hair style - Down. Curly with a side parting and extensions as her hair is originally                              short.

Type of shot?
I will take a range of long shots and medium long shots with a few mid close ups that I could potentially use for smaller images on the DPS, for my front cover photo I will use a medium long shot and see how this looks on my magazine, it I don't like it I will use a long shot of my model.

Photo Shoot 1 will take place at The Vale Academy Drama Studio at 9am until 10am. I have organised for Kayley Salter to be my model who is already in my AS Media Studies class.
